Wild Bill Hickok and Dave Tutt engage in a western showdown in 1865. Tutt fires first, but Bill fires accurately and kills Tutt.
Jesse James and James Younger gang commit their first train robbery in 1873.

King Henry VIII marries Catherine in 1543. It is his 6th and last marriage, her 3rd and not last marriage.
The Battle of Kursk in 1943 sees the largest tank battle ever, on this day.
Yeltsin resigns from the Communist Party in 1990, bringing yet more pressure for democratization.
