in 1754 George Washington surrenders in the Battle of Great Meadows and in 1775 George Washington assumes command of the revolutionary army.
Pickett's charge fails, bringing to an end the battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
The battle of Koniggratz clears the way for German unification under Prussia without Austria.
And Also On This Day...
Israel lands four C130 transport planes at Entebbe to conduct a raid to free hostages in 1976. At the far end of their range the transports planes must be refueled before lifting off with the liberated hostages.
