July 8: Roswell's Flying Saucer Weather Balloon

On this day in history...

Commodore Perry sails into Tokyo Bay in 1853, ending two centuries of self imposed Japanese isolation.
The Continental Congress sends the Olive Branch Petition to King George in 1775.
Hemingway is injured by Austrian fire in Italy in 1918.


Also On This Day...

Roswell Army Air Field announces the recovery of a flying saucer in 1947. Later on the same day the Eighth Airforce states a weather balloon was recovered.
