May 20: Tornado Hits Town For Third Consecutive Year

On this day in history,

hundreds of Bishops convene in the First Council of Nicaea to reach consensus on tenants of Christian Faith in 325. Vasco de Gama arrives in India in 1498. Charles Lindbergh takes off in 1927 and Amelia Earhart takes off in 1932. They are attempting solo transatlantic flights.

Also On This Day,

the town of Codell Kansas is hit by tornado in 1916 on the east side of town. On this day in 1917 a tornado passed thru on the west side of town. Then once again on this day in 1918 a tornado passed into Codell from the south.

It occurred at 10pm just two hours after an news article was released noting it was "Cyclone Day" and all was quiet.
