May 29: British Tarleton Creates American Victory

Veterans the great war gather in Washington in 1932 for the Bonus March .
Tenzing Norway and Edmund Hillary reach the summit of Everest in 1953.


Also On This Day...

The British Colonet Tarleton wins a decisive victory over the last significant revolutionary force in Carolina in 1780. The victory was complete but at the end Tarleton and his men shot at those surrendering. This undermined the value of the victory as colonists fearing similar justice from their loyalist neighbors rallied and all of Carolina plunged into a deeper civil war.
