May 21: Chuck Berry Rocks With Maybellene

On this day in history...
Lawrence Kansas burns and Slavery Abolition pressses are destroyed during raids in 1856. Clara Barton renowned for provided comfort to the wounded of the following Civil War establishes the American Red Cross in 1881. Charles Lindbergh lands in 1927 and Amelia Earhart in 1932 after solo transatlantic flights. Germany sinks the United States ship SS Robin Moor in 1941 which fails start formal hostilities.

Also On This Day...
Chuck Berry records Maybellene in 1955. The record sells a million copies. This was followed by several hit records during the fifties. Chuck Berry toured during 1957 with other rock pioneers Buddy Holly and Everly Brothers.
