June 1: Napoleon a British Scout in Africa

On this day in history...
Napoleon Eugene or Napoleon the 4th, dies fighting Zulus while scouting for the British In 1879.
In 1962 , Adolf Eichmann is executed by Israel.
In 1990 the Soviet Union and United States agree to eliminate all chemical weapons.

Also On This Day...

the 1890 census count starts with Hermann Hollerith machines. The 1880 census took over seven years and the expectation was the 1890 census would take over 13 years. So the next census would be started before the last is finished. With Hollerith machines it took only one year.
This success led to a series of company incarnations which eventually resulted in International Business Machines; IBM.
