calavry with Pershing is attacked in Mexico by Mexican forces in 1916.
Admiral Ludwig von Reuter orders the scuttling of the German Fleet in 1919. Reuter anticipated that he would be ordered to hand the fleet over to Britain. Nine sailors are killed becoming the last casaulties of the First World War.
France withdraws it's navy from Nato in 1963. France intends to base it's nuclear force on it's navy.
Spaceship One makes it's first space flight in 2004.
And Also On This Day...
the Small Scale Experimental Machine executes it's first program in 1948. SSME is the first machine to store and execute a program from electronic memory.
