British and Free French forces invade Syria and Lebanon in 1941. Moshe Dayan, after being arrested by Britain in 1939 and freed in 1941, is part of the invasion. After a successful capture of a Vichy French outpost he is wounded, losing the eye that will bear his distinctive eye patch.
