in 1775 the colonists lose in the Battle of Bunker Hill.
The Statue of Liberty arrives in New York in 1885.
In 1932 the Bonus Army marches on Washington.
And Also On This Day...
the Nez Perce win the battle of White Bird Canyon. This is the opening battle in the Nez Perce war. Chief Joseph will lead the Nez Perce through 13 battles and 1300 miles as the Nez Perce attempt to reach Canada. When Chief Joseph finally is trapped he declares:
"Hear me my chiefs... From Where the Sun now stands I will fight no more forever"
